Earth is the Lord’s
April 22nd is observed as Earth Day by around 192 countries. The Bible mentions, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains. The world, and those who dwell in it” (Psalm 24:1). This is because God created the Earth in the beginning (Geneses 1:1). Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so (Genesis1:11). The Earth magnifies the creator God, as mentioned in 1 Chronicles 16:31, “Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let them say among the nations, ‘The Lord reigns'”. As we take care of the things of this Earth, let us learn to worship the Creator and not the creation, because Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.” According to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells (1 Peter 3:13)!
