Steadfast faith and confidence in the Lord
Cast not away, therefore, your confidence,
which hath great recompense of reward. Heb. 10:35
Parents often remind kids not take more than what they can eat. Probably, this happens at jobs too. It is wise not to take on more responsibilities than we can handle. At sometimes, however, we feel overwhelmed by the size or the difficulty of the task. This can happen to us in our Christian walk. But, here is an encouragement for all of us.
Here in the passage, the writer is encouraging the readers to recall the courage they have demonstrated earlier of their faith (V32-33). Despite insults, persecutions, they have supported believers in prisons, even to an extent of giving away their own property. With that in mind, he says in v35, do not cast away your confidence, which hath a great reward.
Our confidence is not in ourselves, our influences, our position and definitely not on our possessions but in Jesus Christ and in His glorious return (v37). It is His power that should enable us to continue in our faith.
