Cross Relationships

When Jesus was crucified on the cross, He balanced his vertical and horizontal relationships. He maintained the vertical relationship with His Father in Heaven by praying for forgiveness of those who crucified Him (Luke 23:34), and commending His spirit to the hands of the Father (Luke 23:46).
He also maintained horizontal relationship with His earthly mother and fellow brothers and sisters, by giving His mother to the custody of John, the disciple whom Jesus loved (John 19:26-27). We learn love, forgiveness and responsibility that Jesus portrayed while on the cross, carrying the sins of the world. May we learn to balance our relationships vertically and horizontally.
