He saved others
When Jesus was brutally being beaten to death and crucified on the cross, the chief priests and the scribes mocked him saying to one another, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe.” Those who were crucified with him also reviled him. (Mark 15: 31-32). It was not at all hard for Jesus to come down from the cross and prove himself to those people mocking and reviling him. But He did not come down from the cross in order to fulfill the plan of salvation. He died for others sake. If it was for Himself, He could have come down from the cross. But no – He came down from heaven and was lifted up on the cross and gave His life to save us. The people who mocked Him wanted to see and believe. Are we also like them to see some miracle in our lives and then believe? In fact we should believe to see life. As John 3:36 states – He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
