Suffering as Christians ?

If anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed. 1 Pet 4:16

We are living in a culture which hates Christianity and it was not very different even in the 1st century. The word “Christian “ was a derogatory term given to Christ’s disciples.

Apostle Peter talks about suffering more than any other New Testament writer. The word “suffer” is found 18 times in the first epistle of Peter. It was a time when Nero, the Roman emperor burnt Christians to torch his gardens at night. Even in the midst of such horrific persecution, Peter exhorted them not to be surprised but to rejoice as they share the sufferings of Christ.

All who seek to live a godly life in Christ will suffer some form of persecution. Let us not be ashamed but glorify God and persevere through our temporal suffering until Jesus comes!
