My heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. Psalm 57:7
This psalm was written by David when he was in imminent danger as he fled from Saul in the cave. He starts with prayer but concludes with joy and praises to the Lord. Despite being in danger, his heart is steadfast(fixed), trusting in the Lord (Ps 112:7, Is 26:3).
As we begin this Lord’s day, let’s fix our hearts to sing His praises despite our circumstances, as we serve a God who is mighty to save. If your hearts are fixed on the Lord this morning, are you eager to open your mouth to worship our God in His Holy temple? Let us prepare our hearts to exalt Him and give thanks to Him in the midst of His people (v 9). Let us also not fall into the category of people who honor God with their lips but their hearts are far from Him (Is 29:13).
