A Living Sacrifice
Present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice,
acceptable to God. Rom 12:1
The most talked about spiritual exercise in Christendom today is worship and oftentimes it is misunderstood to be just singing, clapping and lifting up of hands. Praise and Worship can become an easy substitute for a holy life.
Paul the apostle, understanding the extravagant generosity of God, ends chapter 11 with worship and realizing that all things are from Him, through Him and to Him, begins chapter 12, urging us to surrender our bodies, acceptable to God, which is a reasonable sacrifice when compared to the ultimate sacrifice of His Son on the cross of Calvary.
Notice that we are to present ourselves as a “living” sacrifice which implies that we must live in a continual state of surrender, living a separated life. We are not our own, for we were bought with a price. So, let us glorify God in our body.
